Changes in cervical mucus, confused!?

My husband and I have regularly without protection, although he does pull out. (We are open to having a baby, but aren't necessarily trying, we prefer the "suprise" baby making method. We are well off, so no need to jump on us for being irresponsible. We just don't like baby making to become so "mechanical" and enjoy the excitement of "come what may" so it relieves a lot of pressure off of us wondering every month. I realize this isn't for everyone, but it works for us and we are happy with this) Anyway, I do pay attention to my discharge every month and track my cycles because I like to know what's going on. I started my period 23 May 2011 then it ended the 27th. I had fertile eggwhite cm most noticably on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June then I became extremely dry (as one would expect after ovulation is over) then just today, on the 9th I'm experiencing the same egg white consistancy cm as I would during ovulation. I'm very confused by this as this hasn't happened before. What would cause my cm to go from stretchy (during ovulation), to dry for a few days, back to stretchy again? Could it be I didn't completely ovulate the first time? Has anyone else experienced this? and if so, what was your outcome? I am very puzzled and can't seem to get much info on the matter.
