There were academic rewards given at high school graduation. Each award was given for the Highest Academic Achievement in each subject. My daughter had all A's in this subject, and knows that the recipient of the award had at a grade below and A two years because she had to take the final exam twice, and my daughter never did (it is a small private school)...you are only exempt from the finals if you get all A's. Why are people growing up slower these days?

Back the day people were married with kids by the time they were 16 or 17. Now young people are expected to go to high school for 4 years and go to college for 4 years. People who don't at least finish high school are considered drop outs and usually have a hard time financially. Back in the day, people only needed to go to school until 14 or 15 and then they got a job and got married and started a family. And now if a 16 or 17 year old dates a person that is older than them, such as age 30, the person is considered a pervert and the 16 or 17 year old is considered an innocent child. What changed this? Why are 16 and 17 years considered children now days? Why did high school and college become necessary to go to if you want a decent job?

Conversion To Hasidic Judaism?

After I get more information, time, and certainty I may try converting to Hasidic Judaism. Before I do that I would like to get a basic overall of what changes I will have to make in my life, what will be better and so on. Why is she acting like this?

Basically, I got rejected by a girl, about a year ago. Thing is we were friends before this and she used to like me too, but I guess I waited too long. First paragraph, what corrections should I make?

In high school, I was not involved at all in school. I kept to myself usually focusing on my school and nothing else. It is something that I have grown to regret and believe it had hindered me from having the full high school experience. But once I cam to college I decided that I would not take the same route I did in college. In college, I became heavily involved in several clubs, one that is worth mentioning is called ABS (Association of Black Students). When I attended my first ABS meeting, my thoughts of the group were up in the air. I only attended the meeting simply because I had nothing else to do and wanted to follow the mantra “giving it the old college try”. The first meeting was interesting and memorable. One of the staff members came to speak. I expected a speech praising the group on their efforts and achievements last year. But it was anything but. The professor lambasted the group for their excessive spending on parts and their inability to help out unfortunate outside of campus. She then listed several problems that have plagued the black community, crime, drugs, ual transmitted diseases and listed statistics that proved her point. The information wasn’t surprising to me, but the fact that a professor would exclaim her grievances to the group without notifying the executive board, and with such vigor was what surprised me.

I feel depressed after everything i do?

for as long as I can remember I've become more or less of a recluse due to anxiety disorders and these days I have realised I wasted my life and I want to get back to normal. Problem is, after doing things in public I always feel depressed for no particular reason and just want to go back to hiding out at home... is it normal to feel like that? how should I get over this? I'd say when i was in a challenge on behalf Quicksilver company and when after months of hard work, it paid off one day. I was in a challenge with all of the schools in southern california and after my team of 5 and I did all the work and research and proposal, my own city acknowledged the hard work that was done and I was given a certificate of recognition on behalf of the city of Los Angeles and councilmen when I was only 18 and still in high school. :)

im very very depressed. i looked up the symptoms of depressions and discovered that I have more than five of them. The question is, how to i overcome it? Back the day people were married with kids by the time they were 16 or 17. Now young people are expected to go to high school for 4 years and go to college for 4 years. People who don't at least finish high school are considered drop outs and usually have a hard time financially. I got an academic achievement award, so why am I upset?

This year I got a Social studies award. It is given to the student that has the highest average in Social studies for that team. There are 4 teams in my grade, and about 300 students in my grade. I was pretty proud of the award at first, because I noticed how well I was doing in Social studies. I've gotten straight A+ each marking period, and last marking period my grade was 99.6%. My teacher congratulated me, but when I asked him what I did to get it, he explained that I had the highest average in my team. Great. Then he went on to tell me, that my close friend, who is a complete genius and outshines me in everything, could have gotten a higher average then me, but didn't receive the award because she got a Team Award. Basically instead of just having the highest average in Social Studies, she has the highest average in all her cles, thus she wasn't able to receive my award. I'm not sure if that means she did get a higher average than me, or she could have, but he meant I still would have gotten the award anyway. Either way, it kind of deflated my mood. I love my friend, but it seems like I'm always second to her. I get great grades, just not as great as hers. My one teacher likes me, but adores her. I just feel like I'm like her, but not as good as her, and It does get to me sometimes. Then I finally get an award, and yet I'm told she could have still outdone me. I think what bothered me was that she was the person my teacher used in his "example", if it were any other "nerd" or "smarter person", it probably wouldn't have bothered me as much. Should I become a professional musician?

Alright. So im 18 years old and have been playing guitar for 6 years. Before that I played violin which I had been doing since I was 3 years old. Music is my pion and it has been for a long time, it is the reason I get up in the morning. All I ever think about is writing new songs and how I can incorporate interesting themes and ideas into my songs. I have a pretty experienced musical taste ranging in anything from Ravi Shankar to Kid Cudi but my favorite artist is Bob Dylan. I have been having this confidence issue though, mainly because I have never been in a (real) band. This is due to the lack of anything but metal musicians in my town(not to mention the fact that I am extremely introverted person), it just seems that no one has any interest in branching out from chugging and screaming. I have nothing against metal music it's just that I feel it is very frustrating to just limit myself to what everyone else has asked me to do. My big thing is experimenting. I'm only a sopre in high school, but I am trying to consider my options for the future and I am considering pursuing law. I have a male Pomeranian 11 years old. We recently got a female Pom who is 3 years old. We don't want puppies. Well alot of girls that are like this may not have been treated good when they were a kid, cuz the way a parent raises there kid effects the way there child grows up to be. EX: I have a friend (age 11 when this happend) whose parents did drugs, and left her there to whatch her 2 sisters ( one 1 year younger then her and her baby sister at the age of 1) while her parents went and partied. Beacuse of this, someone found out and called DCS (Department children services) so the kids came and stayed with us for about 1 year.... evently they left us and now the oldest one lives with her aunt, (who goes out to bars all the time) and the 2 youngest ones lives with there nanna.....Well the one that lives with her aunt has so far, tried beer, vodka, a cig, and basically likes a lot of guys...all cuz she wasnt raised properly....All of this and shes only 14 now. Another way women can act like this is beacuase of the outside world. Now adays theres a higher violence rate therefor many young women are effected by this...heres an EX of this: My Nieghbor Stephanie has a daughter named sam. Sam at the age of 13 was d by a family friend....that caused her to feel violated and take away her inocence. she then ended up getting pregnant at 14/15 by a guy and giving birth to her son. after having her son, she has been out partying and doin drugs. Also she left highschool after being sent to jail for DEFENDING herself in a fight not making herself feel any better. After this She gets online and finds someone and goes to the country of Jordan and marries someone there and leaves. Later on she gets fired from Mcdonalds for stealing and doin drugs. Then after some more partying and leaving her son with his grandma to be takin care of she takes a fake perscription and tries to get some oxycotton with it....and end ups in jail for that. Her mom got her out of being in jail for a possible 3 years! Her sons dad now lives with them and whatches his son with his sons grandma which is wonderful.....and all of this happend because she was d at 13! became friends with this guy blake back in december. We became really good friends and pretty close. We eventually began to like eachother alot as more than friends. Honestly I don't even know what happened. One moment I ws fine and the next I noticed that my knee was "clicking" -that hurt a bit. Shortly after the clicking went away my knee began to swell and became difficult to bend. It's been almost three days!

So, I never had a relationship at all, no girl ever interested in me, nothing. Back in the days when I was a teenager, I thought about ual things, but in my twenties that all went away. You should be more concerned with why an 18-y-o guy is dating a 15 year old. I think he probably just umed he had a better shot with the younger girl and didn't want to risk getting hurt. Make your intentions for him more obvious? Guys in high school are f*cking oblivious when it comes to this stuff. My real advice would be to just find another guy. Don't waste your mental energy dreaming up these scenarios when you can be out and enjoy being young and attractive.

Why is activision so greedy?

To be honest, I don't really mind Call of Duty. I play Nazi Zombies a lot, I usually finish veteran singleplayer (although cod5 was hard), and I have a bit of fun with multiplayer, until it gets old and too many people use cheap weapons. Anyway, I wanted to know what all the fuss was about with the new map packs, so I purchased Ascension. It was an alright zombie map, although the color made it a necessity for me to turn on the power before I got a headache. The multiplayer maps were completely terrible, with the exception of Stadium. They were all dull, had almost the exact same color scheme as the other maps, and were very bad, containing many campins. I didn't think too much about it. Honestly, I thought the map pack was alright. The price irritated me a bit. I payed around 10-15 dollars to buy a pack of terrible maps that should have been free. Then, activision released a new map pack, Call of the Dead was the name of the zombie map, which was all that I really care about in Call of Duty anyway. I wasn't so hasty to buy the map pack yet, so I waited for a while, expecting a sale to come out soon, sort of what Bungie did in Halo. No sales come out. I start watching the videos about the new zombie map. I couldn't even believe how terrible it looked. They try to add a new plot line to the map, which, in my opinion, was total crap, they seemingly took the ship portion of the Black Ops campaign mission, Project Nova, and added some terrible easter eggs and a devilishly hard sequence for one achievement. That is ridiculous! Don't you think that Activision should have done what Ubisoft did with AC:B and made map packs free? Seriously, that's about 90 dollars down the drain for one game with a few added map packs that should have been free, in my opinion. Maybe instead of working so hard on devising schemes to suck all the money out of Americans, they should have worked harder on the whole game, such as fixing campaign missions, adding checkpoints to the game so that you don't have to complete half the campaign mission with one checkpoint, fixing spawns in multiplayer, balancing killstreaks... anyway, that was just my little rant. So tell me, why do you think that Activision keeps trying to squeeze money out of us? In fact, on Steam (which i use) most games of equal value to black Ops are about half the price of black ops itself! Why do people keep buying map packs if they have to pay so much for it?

Bullied about weight? Need help!?

So I'm 15. Currently on summer before Sopre year. I have some issues... mainly involving my self esteem. I know it sounds weird because I have self confidence, like I'm outgoing with my friends and dance team and stuff like that but when it comes to guys and new friends, that's a whole other story. I was bullied constantly from 3rd grade until today about my weight. No I'm not fat, in fact, I'm the opposite. I'm super skinny. The boys would always say "here comes the walking stick" or "she's anorexic" (I'm not, don't worry). At first I would go home and cry to my mum and she would try her best to comfort me but the pain still hurt like knives in my gut. Through middle school I acted like it didn't bother me, the bullying or remarks about my skinniness. But its just something I have always been self conscious about and people just keep pointing it out. Within the last month a guy whispered to my friend, "Feed Olivia" and then I cracked. I can't take all these remarks from people, especially boys, the ones who I am trying to build relationships with, friendships and romance. I seriously don't know how much more of this I can take. I have always been naturally skinny and I just broke 100 lbs. a couple of months ago. My question is how can I heal my wounds from childhood and teenage years from the bullying and become more comfortable with myself? DO NOT SAY I'M LUCKY FOR BEING SKINNY. I understand girls and boys starve themselves and do awful things to be like me but I have been through too much to want to stay like this.

as you are getting to the end of the campaign you start as the gunship and after you kill Dragovich the game plays clips, then you play as JFK on five in zombies after that i finish the game but once i go back to resume game for campaign it brings me back to the gunship how do i officially beat campaign and get the achievement for finishing campaign? thank you

In middle school I was somewhat of a loner and didn't really talk to anybody who treated me right but one day I spoke to this girl or should I say she spoke to me rather, she tried to be my friend and not really being all that social I was rude and put her down ( I was so mean I'm ashamed to this day) when all she wanted was to see me smile. The next year I warmed up to people and really began to socialize and started talking to her the way I should have from the start and although I was still shy we became friends and spoke every time we saw each other in the halls. It began to get to the point where I began liking her but one dreadful day I made a (seriously stupid) mistake by cursing at her when she gave me a face with her tongue I knew she was just playing but after getting into a fist fight I was seriously pissed off I know its not an excuse but immediately I tried apologizing but she would accept it. Later we went to the same high school but no longer friends she ignored me and I wondered if I should even try, I asked some body I know for advice and they told me to send her a message on myspace, it took me a couple of years to summon the courage but I finally did it and now we are friend and I apologized for treating her the way I did for that ENTIRE year and that one day. With out her I'd be the biggest a*** hole anybody could meet but just her trying to be my friend and being so great has truely changed me its hard to explain but because of her I am now one of the nicest guys anybody can meet I swear she is like my angel, we no longer talk as often as we use to but we are still friends and I'd like to tell her how she made an impact on my life but I don't know how can any body help me? Is it too late to learn gymnastics?

I know I'm a bit older but I have always wanted to learn gymnastics. Not for competitions or anything, just for personal satisfaction, pleasure, and achievement. I am 24 and I know girls who start are like tiny tots, but a lot of family members did it. But I was never offered. It may have been cause my family thought I was too much of a tom boy. They let me play all the guy sports. So.... is it too late to be a girly gymnastics champ?

I got an academic achievement award, so why am I upset?

This year I got a Social studies award. It is given to the student that has the highest average in Social studies for that team. There are 4 teams in my grade, and about 300 students in my grade. I was pretty proud of the award at first, because I noticed how well I was doing in Social studies. I've gotten straight A+ each marking period, and last marking period my grade was 99.6%. My teacher congratulated me, but when I asked him what I did to get it, he explained that I had the highest average in my team. Great. Then he went on to tell me, that my close friend, who is a complete genius and outshines me in everything, could have gotten a higher average then me, but didn't receive the award because she got a Team Award. Basically instead of just having the highest average in Social Studies, she has the highest average in all her cles, thus she wasn't able to receive my award. I'm not sure if that means she did get a higher average than me, or she could have, but he meant I still would have gotten the award anyway. Either way, it kind of deflated my mood. I love my friend, but it seems like I'm always second to her. I get great grades, just not as great as hers. My one teacher likes me, but adores her. I just feel like I'm like her, but not as good as her, and It does get to me sometimes. Then I finally get an award, and yet I'm told she could have still outdone me. I think what bothered me was that she was the person my teacher used in his "example", if it were any other "nerd" or "smarter person", it probably wouldn't have bothered me as much. I just don't know if I should be proud, or not. I want to be happy . . . it's just hard.

Why is my body not hydrated enough?

I've decided to become more health conscious and to get in better shape. I'm 16 am 5 foot 6 and 145 lbs. I'm not fat at all. I just really want to tone up and be more athletically fit. I've been jogging and running at sunset so it's not too hot and I drink nothing but water. I have a camelbak full of water about every 1.5 hours. Like clockwork though I have to pee in 20 minutes of finishing it. My skin is dry still (not like anything bad, just requiring a little bit of lotion), but I thought that when you drink a lot of water your skin in naturally hydrated. Am I drinking too much? Should I have to pee so often? Why is my skin still dry? Curious

Effect of unemployment on college graduates?

It is very depressing, I chose mechanical engineering confidently because everyone said I would never be without a job. 2 years after graduation, there are very few jobs. I have been looking hard. We are officially in a depression as of last week when the Dow jones lost 279 points in 1 week. The press won't admit it because it will cause panic.
